RACE DAY UPDATES AND NOTES

4:06 PM PT - Driver’s meeting will be held in-game at 8:35 PM ET.

2:31 PM PT - Corsa California withdraws. Grid has been adjusted.

11:57 AM PT - Tire changes will now be allowed during the driver change pit stop.

DO ASAP

  • Open iRacing so all your updates can finish loading by the time the race starts.
  • Create your team on iRacing HELP and invite the second driver to join.
  • Both drivers need to download the car you’ll be racing and also the track (COTA)
  • Both drivers must join the “Race For RP Events” league on iRacing HELP
  • Fundraise for your team by sharing the link to your fundraising page. FIND IT HERE
  • We suggest you use the iRacing UI setup (shown below). If you’re not already, there should be obvious prompts to download it when you open iRacing in a browser window. It’s easier for us to help clear up any confusion if we’re all looking at the same format.

Discord is a voice, video, and text chat app that will run in the background on your computer. You will need a headset to be able to chat with us on it while you race.

We will use Discord to talk to each other and race control during the race. Everyone should have their own account and join our server.

  1. Join our server HERE
  2. Click the Race For RP logo in the left column.
  3. Click “Main Lobby” to join our voice chat.
  4. Your team will also have its own channel on our server.

Only one driver needs to create a team

Driver 1: Create Your Team

  • Go to the iRacing UI and click the “Teams” tab.
  • Click the “CREATE A TEAM” button and create a team using the same team name you either provided to us or we picked for you. VIEW TEAM NAMES HERE
  • Once the team has been created, invite your second driver to join it.
    • To invite a member to your team from the Team Roster view, simply click the “Invite a Member” button. This will allow you to search for the member you want to invite either by name (View usernames here) or customer ID. Once you find the correct member, just click on their name in the search results, and click the “Invite” button that appears. The invitation should appear in the Invitations tab of your team within a minute.

Driver 2: Accept Invite

  • Go to the iRacing UI and click the “Teams” tab.
  • Find the “Team Invites” tab and accept the invite.

Both drivers need to join our League on iRacing

  • Go to the iRacing UI and click the “Leagues” tab.
  • Search for “Race For RP Events” and click “Join”.

GRIDDING PROCEDURE

We will be using a manual pace car for our event, with a real person driving it. It will hopefully have a livery similar to this...

  • If a team has a Pick-A-Pro driver, they will start the race. If a team does not have one, the higher rated iRacer must go first. VIEW DRIVER ORDER
  • For the initial start, we will use the computer-operated pace car and the starting driver will spawn to their grid spot on the back straight.
  • Unless there is a hold for the broadcast, we will go green first time by.
  • For every other stage start, we will release cars from pit lane one-by-one, calling out each driver’s name or car # when it is their turn to go. Make sure you know your car number... and your name.
  • The grid is set based on donations. All the teams who tie for last with the minimum donation of $250 will be reverse-gridded at the back, based on the starting driver’s rating in iRacing. Best at the back!

DRIVER CHANGE

You will have plenty of time to do your driver change, as we will be manually calling cars out one by one to start stage 3.

  • **UPDATE** Tire changes are allowed during driver change **UPDATE**
  • When you enter pit lane, there will only be one lollipop. That is the pit spot you must stop in for your driver change.
  • You will get a warning if you are exceeding pit lane speed limit.
  • Driver 1 will get out of the car once they’ve stopped (hold the esc. key) and then the option to get in will appear for Driver 2, who should already be logged into the race session.
  • After your driver change, stay in your pit box until we call you out.
  • Our Fund-Raise-Them-Up winners will be moved up on the pace lap for Stage Three. Whatever team raises the most funds between when the grid is set and the end of Stage Two will be moved up 3 spots. The team that raises the second most funds will be moved up 1 spot.
  • The Fund-Raise-Them-Up challenge begins immediately after the grid is set. You can share THIS GRAPHIC with a link to your fundraising page to try and win the challenge!

BROADCAST INTERVIEWS

We’d like our top two finishers to stick around for interviews.

We will conduct these through Discord.
